UCANR Monthly Produce Safety Webinars

Please join us for a monthly lunchtime produce safety webinar series. On the third Tuesday of each month we will be joined by a guest speaker for a 1-1.5 hour presentation followed by questions from the listeners and more general discussion, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm.  The ten webinar topics will be focused on various aspects of produce safety including current produce safety research work from across the country. These webinars are brought to you in collaboration with experts in the food safety field, regulators, and growers.

These webinars will be held online via Zoom.  The Zoom link will be the same each month. The Zoom link is provided when you register. There will be no webinar in December.

All webinars will be recorded and archived for on-demand access.

The featured presentations are:

  1. August 19: FMSA Produce Safety Rule vs. Audit Programs by Dr. Erin DiCaprio, UC Davis. Describe the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and provide an overview of the different types of audit programs that exist for produce safety on-farm audits. Make distinctions between what is required in the Produce Safety Rule (minimum requirements) vs. audit schemes.
  2. September 16: Are You Exempt? A Guide to FSMA Produce Safety Rule Exemptions and Qualified Exemptions by Don Stoeckel, Produce Safety Alliance. Provide background on the exemptions and qualified exemptions from the FSMA PSR.
  3. October 21: CDFA FSMA Inspection Processes by Angela Terrazas, CDFA Inspection Division. Angela will talk about the process of engaging with CDFA for FSMA compliance.  From initial contact, phone call, scheduling inspections, what to expect on day of inspection, results of inspection, re-inspection
  4. November 18: FSMA Produce Safety Rule Processing Exemptions by Dr. Erin DiCaprio, UC Davis. Provide an overview and give examples of what types of documentation that will be required when applying for a processing exemption from the FSMA Produce Safety Rule.
